Sheila is a lactation consulting expert and health educator who has been coaching nursing mothers with back-to-workplace strategies for 30 years. Cassi advises businesses of all sizes, from Fortune 1000 companies to startups, on establishing and maintaining safe, clean and comfortable mother’s rooms throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Our Speakers:

Sheila Janakos is CEO of Healthy Horizons, a role to which she brings 30 years of experience in providing breastfeeding guidance and education. She earned a B.S. in Community Health Education from San Francisco State University and M.P.H. in Public Health Education from San Jose State University. She is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and a Certified Lactation Educator. In November 2019, Sheila was honored with Silicon Valley Business Journal’s C-Suite Award for her three decades as a business entrepreneur, lactation consulting innovator and advocate for nursing mothers at work and at home. An accomplished public speaker, Sheila has also shared her expertise as the radio host of “Babies and Beyond” on Voice America Talk Radio Network from 2004 to 2007.

Cassi Janakos, COO of Healthy Horizons, brings 13 years of experience leading teams of 10 to 600 people and is passionate about supporting women in the workforce. She earned an M.S. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley. Cassi is an engineer, designer, and serial problem-solver leveraging her experience in product management, engineering, leadership coaching, and design to make disruptive changes in how companies retain women in the workforce and ease the transition of new moms returning to work in Silicon Valley and beyond.
